Canadian .30/06 cartridges box
This is a scarce issue Canadian Army issued ammo box.NO AMMO)....it was issued in feb 6 1942 as found on a date stamp on the back....the box has clear C BROAD ARROWS on every side..the box was made in Canada by Canadian Industries Limited..they made ammo for the troops..the interesting marking is the broad red band on the box...this was the designate that the box was 30/06 ammo for the P14 which Canada had borrowed..the Majority of our troops had of course .303 ammo.it was decided thaat the broad red stripe would show the ammo was 30/06 and not .303, bad idea to grab the wrong ammo in a war!!!...as the .303 rifles were later produced in numbers....the P14 were issued to Home Guards to guard prisoners, air fields, vital points etc...the box is in excellant condition for its age and still has the cardboard dividers in it!!!!!
