Slash, het, and gen, the works. Tamora Pierce's characters and worlds (mostly Tortall, but also the Circle books, to a lesser extent) are just fabulous, and there's just so much potential for intriguing exploration.

Tortall

Through the fire, through the embers, by The PenMaster, is a look at the Alan(na)-Alex, Alex-Roger, Roger-Alan(na) relationships. Although the POV structure doesn't entirely work for me, it's lyrically written and contains some lovely imagery and fairly solid characterization. (Roger/Alex, primarily)

Circle

What Is Unspoken, by jenelin, is a quiet portrait of Lark and Rosethorn. The imagery of the magic is particularly strong. (Lark/Rosethorn)
