Introduction

Slash, het, gen, the works. Because pearl-o said hey, look at this shiny show! and wrote really great fic, and I did, and it sucked me in. I blame it all on her.

Clark Kent/Lex Luthor

Viridian5's Black Pond finally follows up on my first thought upon seeing the fish: killer mutant Kryptonite fish! So, these aren't killer, but they are mutant, and it's hilariously bizarre.

Freshman Orientation, by Punk, is a wonderful, funny, sweet, and true look at Clark entering college. As a college student myself, this fic makes me weirdly happy.

Ride, by The Spike has Clark and Lex. In a limo. And it's hot.

The Road Home, by Meredith Lynne. Clark. Lex. Oreos. Killer cows. What's not to love?

Total Immersion, by Livia has French homework, humor, and hot sex. Always a good combination.

Impact, by Livia, deals with the aftermath of Hug beautifully.

Chloe Sullivan/Lana Lang

Take Five, by Bastet, is sticky-sweet and thick with summer, and as good an explanation as any for Lana's curious blankness.

moonwhip's eve was one of the first Chloe/Lana stories I read which really worked for me. And seriously, it takes an amazing writer to make menstruation a major characterization point and keep the story sexy, in an understated UST sort of way.

Torch Red and Memento Mori, by FayJay, are lovely little UST vignettes, with vivid imagery and sharp prose. These are a Chloe I can believe in, snark and all, and a Lana I wish we saw more often on the show.

Intimate Strangers, also by FayJay, is the first Chloe/Lana futurefic I've seen, and it presents a fully believeable portrait of the girls as they could end up. Witty, warm, and real.

Chloe Sullivan/Lois Lane

Tumbleweed, by Jintian presents a Lois Lane whom I don't like at all but with whom I am fascinated all the same. Prose like this makes me horribly envious. (crossover with Superman, but not under crossovers because I felt like putting it here)

Multipairing

Boys! Raise Giant Mushrooms in Your Cellar! by Julad is incredibly cute and wonderful -- a look at Clark's life through Pete's eyes -- and only tangentially romantic. And with good, likeable, believable Lana characterization! If only the show gave us this Lana. (Clark/Lex, Pete/Lana)

Gen

Victoria P.'s Burnished Copper is bittersweet and beautiful, with strong imagery and dead-on Chloe characterization.
