Introduction

These are authors who I think are always or nearly always worth reading, the ones who, when I see them writing in new fandoms that I love, make me squee like a silly fangirl, and whose stories I often read even when I don't recognize the fandoms. Many of their stories are also recced under individual fandom recs.

Authors

Jane St Clair has a unique and beautiful style, and is one of the few writers to write Janeway/7 that I find plausible. I particularly like And God Shuffled Her Feet (Daria), Servants with Torches (Romeo and Juliet).

Mary Borsellino writes in a lyrical, understated manner, of rare and unusual pairings and fandoms (and of happy Sam/Frodo/Rosie threesomes, if you're fond of Hobbitfic). It's easy to see why this makes me, rare fandom slut that I am, very happy. You might start with The boy who gave away his birthday (Sandman) and The worst part (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones).

pearl-o writes primarily Smallville and occasionally Bring It On and Josie and the Pussycats slash. Her writing is funny, beautiful, hot, and always wonderful. I'm particularly fond of How to Be a Great Journalist (SV, Chloe/Lana) and Organization (SV, Clark/Lex).

Sleeps With Coyotes / Ladonna King got me reading Eroica fic when I don't know the source, and I squealled with joy like a silly fangirl (which I am) when I found she was writing Smallville. Oh, yeah, and she makes Sleepy Hollow slash (and I mean Ichabod/Hessian, not Ichabod/Brom) plausible and beautiful and hot. Try Claiming, if you like the squicky Horseman slash (Sleepy Hollow), or Thorns (Eroica) if you don't.
